Hi, I’m susan buettner, jd.

When I went to law school, my aspirations of becoming a lawyer were clear. I expected to be an attorney until I retired. Little did I anticipate the twists and turns that life had in store for me. Switching from law to real estate was a big change for me. Suddenly becoming a salesperson left me feeling unsure and out of place. I struggled to see how my legal background fit into this new role and where I fit in among all the deals and negotiations. I didn’t see myself as a salesperson and couldn’t imagine how I could find my voice.

Today, what I have is my experience and knowledge. I’ve been a member of the Nebraska Bar for 25 years and a member of the Real Estate Commission for 11. Rolling all of the information in my head out onto the paper or the “stage” hasn’t been the easiest transition. One recurring obstacle that I encountered along this journey was the ever-persistent imposter syndrome. Despite my years of experience and qualifications, there were moments when self-doubt crept in, about my abilities and credentials. Yet, with each encounter, I emerged stronger and more resilient, fortified by the knowledge that I had overcome similar challenges in the past.

Indeed, confronting imposter syndrome became a catalyst for personal growth and development. It forced me to confront my insecurities head-on, challenging me to reaffirm my worth and capabilities in the face of adversity. Through perseverance and determination, I learned to harness my inner strength and channel it into my work, emerging as a more confident and fearless professional.

In retrospect, the journey from law school to the realm of real estate has been a transformative one, marked by both challenges and triumphs. While the path may have been a bumpy and curvy one, I am grateful for the lessons learned and the growth experienced along the way. Today, armed with a wealth of experience and a renewed sense of self-assurance, I am ready to embrace whatever opportunities and challenges the future may hold.

My Approach

When engaging with an event coordinator, podcast host or summit creator, I listen to their vision. It isn’t about what I need, it is about what I can provide.

Speak it

When finding resilience or your own super power, you have to be ready to hear the ugly with the good. Does it help you to hear my ugly?

Build it

From creating the workbooks to agent courses, writing has become a personal and fulfilling outlet. If I can provide information that will help even one person, I am challenged to do it!
